Papers of Matthew J. Burns, the editor of Pulp Workers Journal (1922-1928), president of the International Brotherhood of Paper Makers (1929-1940, 1944-1947), and labor specialist with the Department of Commerce Office of Production and its successor, the War Production Board. The papers relate to Burns' career in the labor movement and the paper makers union, his work as labor specialist and wartime paper production, Burns' philosophy of unionism, and his relation to and writings on his fellow labor leaders.
